Advancement in LED lighting technology resulted in a transition from fluorescent tubes to LED tubes. LED tubes consume significantly less energy and has a lifespan of between 30000 and 50000 hours. Currently new regulations are in place that require the phasing out of fluorescent tubes. Fluorescent tubes contain mercury, and the light output is insufficient for the energy required to produce that light.
